Not long ago, Sara was selling copiers and fax machines door-to-door and was frequently escorted out of office buildings for cold-calling. Like so many people, Sara dreamed of an entirely different career and life, but she was waiting for her bright idea.

Sara’s bright idea came one night, when in search of the right undergarment she cut the feet out of her pantyhose to wear with white pants and open-toed shoes. And, at that moment, Sara knew she had a million-dollar idea — SPANX.

Seven years later, this former salesgirl turned $5,000 (taken out of her personal savings) into more than $150 million in retail sales, 55 employees, 100 different styles of SPANX and ASSETS, a new brand at Target. In fact, SPANX has revitalized the $2 billion hosiery industry that had experienced a ten-year slump.

Today, Sara and SPANX have been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, The View, The Tyra Banks Show, CNN and countless other television programs and news channels, as well as the pages of Forbes, Fortune, People, Entrepreneur, In Style, The New York Times, USA Today, Glamour, Vogue and many more.

Sara is now turning her attention to giving back by helping women globally with education and entrepreneurial support.
